Cardiac Rehabilitation

The Cardiac Rehabilitation program at Roane General Hospital is designed for patients who have had a heart attack, who have cardiovascular disease, or who are at risk for heart disease. The goal of cardiac rehab is to stabilize, slow or even reverse the progression of cardiovascular degeneration, thereby reducing the risk of heart disease, another cardiac event or death. Cardiac rehab also enables patients to return to an active, normal lifestyle through strictly monitored exercise and lifestyle modification.

Exercise sessions are one hour long and occur on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Sessions include a 5-10 minute warm up, approximately 30 minutes on the exercise equipment, and a brief cool down period. Treadmills, stationary bicycles and cross trainers are used in this program.
